When designing a branded T-shirt, there are several factors you need to consider if you want your logo to look good and be legible.
This blog will go over some of our top tips on how to make sure your logo looks great on a T-shirt, including tips on logo design, placement and sizing. Let’s get started!
How to Design a Great Logo for Clothing
When designing a logo for clothing, it is important to remember that logos that look great on paper may not always translate well to physical clothing like T-shirts and hoodies. Although intricate designs may help your logo to look unique and impressive, complicated details can easily get lost during the printing and embroidery process. This is why it’s best to go for simple images and fonts that are recognisable from afar as these designs will always look good, whether they’re blown up huge or shrunk down small.
You will also need to consider the colour of your logo design and how this will work with the colour of the fabric you are printing on. To see what your logo would look like on different garments and colours, you can create digital mock ups and try out different backgrounds and colour schemes.
Where Should I Place My Logo?
There are a few different places you can put your logo when designing a custom T-shirt, the standard placement locations are: centre chest, left or right breast, left or right sleeve, nape of the neck and centre of the back.
If you want your logo to make an impact, positioning it on the centre of the chest or back is your best bet! These locations are hard to ignore and also allow you to print or embroider your logo quite large. Sleeve, breast and nape of the neck placements are also effective but call for a much smaller design and may not be visible if the wearer is wearing a jacket or coat. These placements are popular for company logos and work uniforms and can be a nice subtle way to advertise your company.
